String Information & Frequently asked questions

Why replacing strings matter...

Many tennis players wait until their strings actually snap before replacing them, but that's a bit like waiting for your car's tires to go completely flat before changing them. Even if they look perfectly fine, tennis strings lose their life, elasticity, and tension over time. Regularly replacing your tennis strings is one of the easiest ways to upgrade your game and ensure consistent performance on the court.

How long do strings last?

Average Life of strings vary depending on type and playing style, all strings loose optimal performance over time.

Sythetic Guts - 20-40 hours

Multifilaments - 15-30 hours

Polyesters - 8-20 hours

Low Tension vs High Tension

In General,

Low Tension = more power, more comfort, increased spin

High Tension = more control, crisper feel

What kind of string should I use?

Choosing the right string can significantly impact your game. See our breakdown on each string type (Polyester, Multifilament, Synthetic or Hybrid) to see which suits your game best.

General rule:

Polys - low comfort, Low power, high spin, high control

Multi - high comfort, high power, medium spin, medium control

Synthetic -medium comfort, medium power, low spin, medium control

Polyester String

These strings offer exceptional control and durability, making them a favorite among intermediate and advanced players. They also provide high spin potential due to the string's ability to "snap back" after impact and string bite, especially with some shaped poly strings. If you're an intermediate or advanced player looking for precise control, spin and power, polyester might be for you.

Multifilament String

Multifilament strings are known for being powerful and arm-friendly, providing strong shock absorption and a plush feel. They offer better spin potential than synthetic gut and are often chosen by intermediate to advanced players who prioritize comfort and feel without sacrificing too much control.

Synthetic Gut String

This is typically the most cost-effective option, providing a "crisp" feel that is softer than polyester but firmer than multifilament. Synthetic gut is a great all-around string, making it an excellent choice for beginner to intemediate players seeking a balanced performance and good value.

Hybrid Stringing

Hybrid strings involve a mixed string setup, combining elements of the string types mentioned above. Common hybrids include Poly/Multi (Polyester in the mains x Multifilament in the cross) or Poly/Poly hybrids (shaped main/round cross). This allows players to customize their racquet's feel, blending characteristics like control, power, spin, and comfort to suit their specific playing style.  So many combinations to play with!
